Peter gags as Kari inserts a tube in the hole in Peter’s throat. He has to be suctioned about six times a day because he has only one functioning lung and it gets tiresome for Peter to breathe. “ Peter has never known anything except how life is now,” says Kari. “ He doesn’t know what it’s like not to have feedings, oxygen, and suctions.”
